A MAN has been arrested by detectives investigating a reported rape in Poole.
The incident was reported to have occurred sometime between 4.45am and 6am on Sunday, September 5, in the vicinity of Poole Road, Branksome.
It was reported to Dorset Police that the victim, aged in her 30s, was approached by an unknown man riding a bicycle in the Westbourne area of Bournemouth and he travelled with her along Poole Road onto Branksome, where the reported offence took place.
Providing an update on the investigation on Wednesday evening, a Dorset Police spokeswoman said: "Following a CCTV appeal and enquiries led by Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team, a 29-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of rape.
"He is currently assisting detectives with their enquiries."
