A Daily Echo news story from back in 1983 concerning the new look Hampshire Centre sign designed to attract more customers had residents angry as the sign made the area look like a garish fairground as it was painted bright yellow with multi-coloured glass-fibre letters.
The shop in Castle Lane West opened in 1968 and was popular for many years with the biggest tenant being Woolco which closed in 1986.
The centre started to be demolished in 2001 to make way for Castlepoint.
What are your memories of the Hampshire Centre?
