THE first batch of pupils at Bournemouth’s brand-new academy are preparing to start life at the school.
Livingstone Academy, the brainchild of Ian Livingstone, co-founder of Games Workshop, opens to reception and year 7 pupils on Monday, September 13.
Pupils won’t be at the new school until after the October half term however and will instead be houses at the Bournemouth and Poole College campus in Lansdowne.
Kimberley Elms, the principal of Livingstone Academy said: “We are opening in temporary accommodation on the Bournemouth and Poole College Lansdowne campus in Ashcam House.
“Our team has been visiting the homes of all children who are starting Reception and are very excited to see the children in the stay and play sessions as scheduled with their families next week.
“For year 7, we begin our year at 8.30 am on September 13. All parents and carers have been invited to attend a special online opportunity to raise any questions. There is also a special introduction video to share with their children.
“Parents have been overwhelmingly understanding and supportive as we remain committed to deliver the same high-quality and innovative learning experience to children, regardless of where we must open.
“The buildings are still on target for completion as planned. We will move into phase 1a buildings over the October half term and will gain access to the rest of the phase one building in January.”
