IF SOCCER boss Harry Redknapp was to sell his waterfront mansion in Sandbanks, he could buy the equivalent of 60 houses or a whole street in some parts of the north-east, according to local property experts.
Redknapp's mock Tudor three-storey house which he shares with his wife Sandra, overlooks Poole Harbour and is believed to be worth in excess of £8m.
It boasts an indoor swimming pool, sauna and games room, a private jetty, a billiards room and a three bedroom gatehouse in addition to the five bedrooms in the main house.
Tim Sharp, a director of Dorset-based Elite Property Search which specialises in the acquisition of prime property, said: "The two most expensive properties in a similar location to Harry Redknapp's are being marketed for £7,950,000.
"Average house prices in the north east are around £133,000 so he could buy at least 60 houses or a whole street in some areas."
He added that a similar size property to Redknapp's on the prestigious Wynyard Estate near Newcastle which was home to the likes of Kevin Keegan and Alan Shearer, is being marketed at £1.2m.
And according to a recent report by Savills, the north-east is expected to see one of the lowest house price increases at just 0.5 per cent during 2008.
But although Redknapp could get more bricks and mortar for his money he is unlikely to take the job if offered it, according to his brother in law, Frank Lampard Snr.
Lampard, who was Redknapp's assistant for seven years at West Ham, revealed he spoke to Redknapp on Wednesday night following Sam Allardyce's shock departure and confirmed no offer had yet been made to the Portsmouth boss.
"I don't know if he would leave the south coast, to be fair. He's settled there.
"He likes taking his dogs for a walk along the coast. But only time will tell I suppose," he said.
Redknapp has never managed further north than London and Lampard added: "Up north is a different kettle of fish.
"It'd be a big decision for him if he did."
However, Lampard is in no doubt of Redknapp's credentials adding: "Harry's a top manager and any job that comes up in the Premier League, Harry's mentioned.
"Only a couple of months ago he was in line for the England job. He was one of the front runners."
l Redknapp moved to Poole when he managed AFC Bournemouth and kept his home in the area when he took up the West Ham job in London.
Redknapp's neighbours include Body Shop partner Ian McGlyn and computer millionaire Sir Peter Ogden.
Only last year a piece of wasteland next door to his property was up for sale for £4.5m.
Sandbanks has been ranked the fourth most expensive place in the world behind Tokyo, Hong Kong and London.
This is the place where a dilapidated three-bedroom bungalow was sold for £3m. A 21ft by 8ft concrete garage was valued at £200,000.
A spokesman for local estate agents Tailor Made said: "The value of the property is the location. Poole Harbour is the second biggest natural harbour in the world and is surrounded by beautiful countryside."
