AN ENGLISH Bull Terrier which has spent the past 18 months at the RSPCA has been finally been rehomed.
Toby was one of the dogs waiting to be homed at the RSPCA Ashley Heath Animal Centre after struggling to win over potential new owners because of his shy nature.
Previously the Daily Echo reported the dog’s troubles to find a new home and as result the rescue centre was "inundated" with adoption requests, and now he has been rehomed.
“Toby went to his new home at the end of August and has been settling in well. He loves snoozing on the sofa and in the sunshine,” his former care assistant Emily Green said.
“Whilst sleeping on the sofa he likes to be tucked in under a blanket by his new owners.”
Toby was adopted by Terri and Phil, a couple from Brighton, who spent several days getting to know the English Bull Terrier having travelled from Sussex each time.
Since finding his new home Toby has said to have settled in really well despite his previous shy nature.
Ms Green added: “He’s been settling in quicker than expected as he has always been scared of strangers. It's really good to see him get a home.
“He is also now enjoying little walks and went for his first trip to the beach recently. There was no one else on the beach they went to, they had it to themselves and Toby loved it.”
“It’s been a bit of a journey, he’s spent a long time in the kennels. We have been getting in touch with the owner’s supporting them and Toby.”
Ten-year-old Toby was rescued by the RSPCA in January 2020 at which point he was found underweight and very nervous.
The Ashley Heath centre believed he had never previously experienced a loving environment, prior to being rescued and rehomed.
