IF ever a sound was created for the morning after the all-night before, it was Morcheeba's.
Their scratchy beats, laidback funk and trippy-blues never gnawed at the soul like Portishead, or tried to get you back on your feet like St Etienne.
No, they ploughed their furrow with lush grooves, soothing breaks and Skye Edwards' creamy vocals on tracks like The Sea, Part of the Process, Undress Me Now and Over and Over.
Rome Wasn't Built in a Day offers a more upbeat tack and garnered some deserved pop success, as did the Latin fizz of Charango; while the expansive set is well-served by the inclusion of unexpected treasures like Diggin' a Watery Grave.
On the down side there's nothing from their most recent album The Antidote.
