FROM the pen of Taxi Driver/ Raging Bull writer Paul Schrader, this absorbing whodunnit takes place in Washington DC, right in the heart of America's political elite.
Carter Paige III (Woody Harrelson in eye-catching form) is a Southern gent who earns his keep on the Hill as a "walker", escorting politicians' wives to events their old men can't be bothered to attend.
When one of his clients (Kristin Scott Thomas) finds her lover murdered and asks Carter to cover up, his friends start to desert him.
Schrader directs with a steady hand leaving plenty of time to focus on the lean and measured script, but the film is made by Harrelson's star turn.
