US R&B singer R Kelly has been found guilty of multiple racketeering and sex trafficking charges following a six-week trial in New York.

The I Believe I Can Fly and Ignition singer has faced allegations for two decades.

Nine women and two men appeared in court to describe sexual violence and humiliation.

Several victims testified that they were underage when they were sexually abused by the singer.

The 54-year-old now faces decades behind bars after a jury found him guilty on all counts after two days of deliberations.

The verdict comes 13 days after the singer, full name Robert Sylvester Kelly, was acquitted of child pornography charges following a trial in the state of Illinois.

Multiple witnesses said Kelly subjected them to perverse and brutal whims in a scheme that stretched back as far as 20 years.

Assistant US attorney Nadia Shihata said the singer believed “the music the fame and the celebrity meant he could do whatever he wanted”.

He is due to face sentencing in May 4 in connection with racketeering and sex trafficking charges.
