Bus passengers campaigning for a service from Ferndown to Bournemouth have taken their fight to cyberspace.

The email address saveTHE134buses@yahoo.com has been set up to receive responses to an on-line petition.

The 134 service was replaced last week with the new 13 route.

But campaigners say the loss of the 134 and 11 services will leave passengers in the Glenmoor Road and Ellesfield Drive area of West Parley poorly served.

An extension to the new 38 service to run four times a day from Ferndown to Bournemouth on the old 134 route is being demanded.

A service at rush hour, mid-morning, lunchtime and late afternoon service would provide sufficient cover, campaigners say.

Peter Impett, Dorset County Council's principal public transport co-ordinator, said the council was aware of the problem for passengers on Glenmoor Road and Ellesfield Drive.

"There are now only one or two weekly services operating along Glenmoor Road," he said.

And the County Hall transport boss said that extending the 38 services may create new problems.

"The problem with extending the 38 bus is maintaining the service from Ferndown to Ringwood," said Mr Impett.

"It would take at least one more bus, which would be expensive. It may also be duplicating services from Ferndown to Bournemouth," he added.

Chris Harris, who is public relations manager at Wilts and Dorset, said the company would have to wait for the petition before considering or commenting on the proposals.
