THE owner of a Bournemouth nail salon, which opened after the first lockdown, has won numerous national awards in recognition of her efforts this year.
Mother of three Lauren McBride runs the Get Nailed salon in Bournemouth and has been in the industry since the age of 13.
After opening Get Nailed with her husband Stu in 2020, Lauren has since won the national Nail Technician of The Year, Regional Salon and Regional Entrepreneur of the year prizes at the National Hair and Beauty Awards.
Get Nailed has its own product range and online training academy with more than 4,500 members from around world.
Lauren said: “2020 was a difficult year for many, but for me, it was a chance to take the positives from a bad situation.
“Being a busy nail tech, time was always difficult to find but lockdown gave me the gift of time which is something I have never had to realise the goals that I wanted.
“The Get Nailed by Lauren McBride brand of professional products is something that I only ever dreamed of having. I now sell my products to nail techs worldwide and the range is growing fast.
“I would like to think that Get Nailed Bournemouth is a salon like no other. It’s bright, colourful, vibrant and is very different to many of the salons in the area and around the country. We wanted to stand out from the crowd, not only in our décor but also in our ethos.
“We are proud to have a no judgement and all-inclusive policy within the salon. There is nothing worse than walking into a salon as a new client and be made to feel uncomfortable with the presentation and attitudes of staff, we wanted to remove the anxiety that comes with that for all our clients to the salon.
“I am so proud of my achievements throughout the last year and I have lots of plans and exciting ventures planned for the future. For me this is just the beginning.
“Dreams really do come true when you work hard for them.”
Shelley Pink, who works under Lauren at the salon, said: “Lauren is a fantastic boss and has achieved so so much.
“They opened up the salon just after the first lockdown which was always going to be a risk but they’re smashing it.”
Early next year, Lauren will attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the longest artificial nail painting marathon in honour of the charity Cry.
Get Nailed is located in 2 Wonderholm Parade, Kinson.
