Aldi has revealed it will be releasing gift cards for customers in the UK.
The new feature comes as Aldi was once again named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by consumer comparison website Which?.
Shoppers can now get their hand on gift cards which they can use in-store or gift to friends and family.
The contactless, plastic-free, cards will be available in more than 920 Aldi stores across the UK.
Customers can activate the cards at the till at the time of purchase with the amount of their choosing, up to a maximum of £500.
When paying for their shopping at the till, customers can present their card rather than pay cash and the amount will be deducted from their gift card balance.
Aldi gift card perfect for family and friends
It is a major move for Aldi who competes as part of the UK’s ‘big six’ supermarkets alongside Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s Morrisons and Lidl.
Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: “The Aldi gift card is the perfect present for any Aldi fan, whether it goes towards their food shopping or that must-have item from our Specialbuys aisle."
She added: "We hope customers enjoy giving the gift of Aldi to their friends and family!”
