A BOURNEMOUTH restaurant hit by a fire last weekend says its ground floor operation is due to open “within a few weeks” but the first floor won't be functional for “many months”.
A fire broke out in a sign at the front of Hot Rocks just after 4.30pm on Saturday, October 2, before spreading to a roof space.
The restaurant has been closed since the fire which was attended by fire crews from across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
In an update posted on Facebook on Saturday, October 9, Hot Rocks said: “For all of our lovely customers; an update a week after the fire at Hot Rocks:
“Scaffolding should appear over the coming week and the roof will be covered and made watertight. The clean up and drying out process will then begin, electrics tested and repairs made.
“Fingers crossed we will be able to open the ground floor operation within a few weeks but sadly the first floor will not be functional for many months. The entire apex of our roof will need to be replaced before a complete refurbishment of the entire floor and balcony. “
They added: “We have been so overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from so many people. Thank you so much and we can’t wait to see you all again soon.”
