RUNNERS put their best foot forward for the Supersonic 5k at the Run Bournemouth festival.
The event on Saturday afternoon drew large crowds following the children’s running events earlier in the day. Daniel Piper from Avon Valley Runners took first place as the fastest male in the Supersonic 5K, running the distance in 17 minutes and nine seconds.
Amelia Cox from Crawley AC was the fastest female to run the 5K in a time of 18 minutes and 54 seconds.

This year the chosen charities for the event were Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
One runner from Devon took part in the race for Blood Cancer after his daughter was diagnosed with Leukaemia.

He said: “She’s all better now and she’s running the race having recovered, we aimed for 30 minutes and made a time of 28.40 so that great, it’s a great event, we come up from Devon to be here every year.”
Other races taking place on Sunday include the Half Marathon and the Supersonic 10K.
Runner Andy said: “It was hot, it was quite tough, but I’m really pleased with how it went and I’ve got the half marathon to go tomorrow.”

This year is the first Run Bournemouth event since 2019, after the pandemic put a halt to it last year.
More than 7,000 people signed up for the event, with the half marathon selling out for the first time ever.
