THOUSANDS of runners took part in the Supersonic 10k at the Run Bournemouth festival.
The event on Sunday morning attracted a large number of spectators following a full day of junior and 5K races the previous day.
Szymon Chojnacki from Bournemouth Athletic Club took first place as the fastest male in the Supersonic 10K, running the distance in 34 minutes and 38 seconds.

Kate Drew from Taunton Athletic Club was the fastest female to run the 10K, achieving a new course record in a time of 36 minutes and 11 seconds.
The Mayor of Bournemouth attended the Sunday morning races to congratulate the winners.

One runner said: “The staff were very helpful, the run was very enjoyable and we’re glad we did it.”
The weather was on the side of the runners this weekend, Sunday’s 10K and half marathon runs began at Hengistbury Head and finished in Bournemouth Lower Gardens and the weather remained sunny throughout.

This year is the first Run Bournemouth event since 2019, after the pandemic put a halt to it last year.
The chosen charities were Macmillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK.
More than 7,000 people signed up for the event, with the half marathon selling out for the first time ever.
