WAYNE Mardle will be hoping history repeats itself when he lines up against 13-time world champion Phil Taylor in Bournemouth next month.
Mardle, confirmed earlier today as the Sky Sports wildcard for this year's Whyte & Mackay Premier Darts League, will face the man dubbed The Power' when the league rolls into the Bournemouth International Centre on February 28.
And Mardle will be hoping to find the same kind of form that saw him end Taylor's hopes of a 14th world crown in the quarter-finals of the 2008 championships at Alexandra Palace.
The 34-year-old from Essex lines up alongside world champion John Part, Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld, World Matchplay champion James Wade, Hereford's Terry Jenkins, Carlisle's Peter Manley and young gun Adrian Lewis as well as Taylor.
And Dorset darts fans, who watched van Barneveld complete a perfect nine-dart finish two years ago at the BIC, are in for a real treat at the BIC once again.
Lewis and Manley are set to reignite their well-publicised rivalry in the night's opening clash, while Wade takes on five-time world title winner van Barneveld.
Newly-crowned world champion Part takes on Jenkins in the final match of the evening, which will be screened live on Sky Sports.
Premier League, night five, BIC: Adrian Lewis v Peter Manley, Phil Taylor v Wayne Mardle, James Wade v Raymond van Barneveld, John Part v Terry Jenkins.
