A BUILDING manager is celebrating her 40th work anniversary at a Poole business park that she joined as a print room assistant.
Tracy Hemper began working at Fleets Corner Business Park in 1981 where she has worked her way through the ranks to become building manager for Federated Hermes.
Forty years later, Tracy has shared reflections on her career and insights into the evolution of the site over the last four decades.
She said: “When I finished full-time education, I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. However, over the years, I’ve had brilliant experiences working across many teams at Fleets Corner and have now found my perfect fit as the site’s building manager.
“I joined the team at Fleets Corner as print room assistant in August 1981, when the site was owned by Powell Duffryn PLC.
“I have seen Fleets Corner evolve considerably over the last 40 years, the site has really moved with the times. We have opened to new kinds of occupiers, from builders to bath-bomb makers, and in more recent years, we have effectively adapted to the warehousing boom in line with online shopping.
“These days, I am heavily involved with the range of high-specification refurbishment works taking place at Fleets Corner and oversee the progression of the whole site.
“My favourite part of my role as building manager is the interaction which I have with our occupiers, providing each with a personal touch. I also enjoy needing to think on my feet and problem-solve day-to-day. I would recommend site management to young professionals looking to get into the industry, because this type of job opens lots of different doors for professional opportunities and personal growth.
“There have been so many highlights over the years at Fleets Corner. One major milestone was attending the 100 years of Hamworthy event, where I met TV presenter Fred Dinenage.
“Of course, I have to mention the fact that I met my husband on-site while he was visiting one of the occupiers. My life would not have been the same if I didn’t join the team all those years ago.”
CBRE property management UK director Craig Powell said: “Tracy has made an exceptional contribution to Fleets Corner over the course of her career and this milestone anniversary highlights the close-knit, people-orientated working environment that we foster at the business park.
“She is a brilliant role model for younger people in the industry and aptly leads the on-site team, who provide a crucial service and hugely benefit our community of occupiers at Fleets Corner.”
The 40th anniversary coincides with the progression of substantial investment across the business park, including a major £3.3m refurbishment of two large warehouses.
