ONE man’s vast collection of stamps is going under the auctioneers hammer in December, including mint condition Harry Potter and Royal postage stamps.

Dorset-based auctioneers Charterhouse will attempt to sell the stamps and stickers at their sale on Thursday, December 2 and Friday 3.

The collection focusses on the stamps produced by Royal Mail from the early reign of Queen Elizabeth II and has taken decades to amass.

Also up for grabs are more modern commemoratives from the Harry Potter and Marvel film franchises.

There are thousands of stamps mounted in 70 stock books and albums all with hand written notes. These annotations include the Stanley Gibbons stamp numbers, issue dates, stamp values and colour variations which took hours to produce.

All the stamps, which includes miniature sheets, blocks, gutter pairs, Smilers, prestige books, presentation packs, panes, booklets and single stamps, are expected to sell for thousands of pounds.

The stamp owner took the decision to auction his collection due to ill health.

Charterhouse owner Richard Bromell said: “Our specialist stamps sales remain hugely popular with demand high amongst collectors.

“Having had an interest in stamps for nearly 50 years, there are many collectors such as myself who pursue this interest.”
