A LEISURE centre in Poole is jumping for joy as eight gymnasts from its trampolining club have qualified for the 2021 World Championships.
The gymnasts from the OLGA Gymnastics & Trampolining Club, based in Rossmore Leisure Centre, will compete in three categories: Trampoline, Tumbling, and Double Mini Trampoline. OLGA is the only club in Great Britain to qualify team members in all three disciplines, having done so three times since 2017.
Managed by leisure operator Everyone Active, on behalf of BCP Council, Rossmore Leisure Centre has seen great success with its trampoline and gymnastics club.
Everyone Active contract manager Rob Slocombe said: “We are absolutely delighted to hear the news that members of our OLGA club have qualified to represent Dorset and the UK at the Championships.
“It is testament to the hard work of the team and the passion and dedication from the club. We wish them all the best of luck for the competition.”
Cllr Mohan Iyengar, portfolio holder for tourism, leisure and culture said: “This news highlights how the leisure team at Everyone Active, working on behalf of the council, are able to promote young sporting talent in our area.
“It is fantastic to see our young stars of the future being engaged and given such a brilliant opportunity, and we wish them every success in this event.”
The championships are set to be held from November 17 to 27 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
