A BRANCH of Pizza Hut in the heart of Bournemouth is set to close its doors.
The restaurant chain’s branch in Westover Road will close after facing “disruption” caused by problems stemming from the pandemic.
A Pizza Hut spokesperson said: “Like many hospitality businesses, Pizza Hut Restaurants has faced disruption due to the pandemic.
“We are saddened by the upcoming closure of our restaurant on Westover Road, Bournemouth, but we're doing everything we can to redeploy our team members to other Pizza Hut Restaurants in order to minimise the impact to our workforce.
“While we're working this through, you can continue to enjoy Pizza Hut through dine-in or takeaway at the Tower Park Pizza Hut Restaurant in Poole.”
These eventual closures will leave the Tower Park and Castle Lane branches as the only Pizza Hut restaurants in the BCP region, leaving delivery-only sites in Winton, Boscombe and Branksome.
This follows the news in September 2020 that Pizza Hut would close 29 of its 244 UK restaurants, putting around 450 jobs at risk. At the time, the Westover Road branch was not included in the list.
Nor was the Barrack Retail Park restaurant in Christchurch which has since been touted to become a McDonald’s, despite resident objection.
The Daily Echo has further approached Pizza Hut to confirm the planned date of closure.
