A ROUTE through North Dorset will be closed for two days to clear landslide materials.
Dinah's Hollow on the C13 in Melbury Abbas near Shaftesbury will shut between 9.30am and 3.30pm on Monday, November 22 and Tuesday, November 23 to allow the maintenance to be carried out.
Dorset Council say a section of the route between junctions for West Lane and B3081 is required to close in both directions to allow the maintenance and clearance of landslide materials to be safely carried out.
Residents in the area have been informed of the road closure and will be contacted again before the start of the works.
A 20.8-mile diversion route will be signposted in the area, which will see motorists travel onto the B3081, A30 and A350. Other small and unofficial diversion routes can be taken by drivers.
The road closure comes after Dinah’s Hollow was blocked in late-October due to a landslip and motorists were advised to avoid the area.
Dorset Council’s cabinet approved a £4.3million scheme to stabilise Dinah’s Hollow in April this year, with a seven-month road closure to be implemented while the works are carried out. A start date for this multi-million scheme has not been confirmed.
