A STUNNING rainbow light projection beamed across the skies of Poole last night, delighting residents who photographed the illumination.
The Global Rainbow shone from Poole Lighthouse to signal resilience and re-emergence from Covid.
The rainbow is a large-scale public art light installation that beams seven rays of laser light to represent the colour spectrum of a natural rainbow and create a natural perspective horizon arc.
Funded by BCP Council, Lighthouse will host the projection over Poole and eastwards towards Hengistbury Head after dark until Saturday, November 20.
Lighthouse chief executive Elspeth McBain said: “Lighthouse is absolutely delighted to receive this grant funding for a work that will stand as a shining example of Poole’s spirit and pride as our community looks forward to a brighter future.”
Members of the Echo Camera Club posted their pictures of the light, receiving a positive reaction from followers.
One commented: “Absolutely stunning beam, went for miles across the bay towards the Isle of Wight.”
Another said: “All that you need to finish it off is Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon pumping out.”
