SUPERMARKET chain Lidl has expanded its presence in Dorset this week with the opening of a new store.
The discount retailer cut the ribbon on its site in Shaftesbury, which had been years in the making after a long-running planning dispute with Tesco.
Customers were welcomed down the aisles at the store for the first time on Thursday, November 25.
The opening times for the store, which is in Christy's Lane, are 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the opening, James Mitchell, Lidl GB’s regional head of property, James Mitchell, commented: “We are pleased to start welcoming local residents through our doors in Shaftesbury.
“We have worked closely with the local council to deliver this new store and would like to thank everyone who has played a part. We look forward to serving our multi-award-winning products to the local community.”
The supermarket has a 1,261 metres squared sales area, an in -store bakery, customer toilets as well as 117 car parking spaces.
