SNOW has officially fallen in Dorset as the country endures strong winds from Storm Arwen.
With a myriad of weather previous forecast for the weekend, including a yellow weather warning for strong wind, there was a slight chance of seeing snow as temperatures continue to plummet.
Weather enthusiast Dorset Snow previously forecast falling snow and sleet on Friday evening and Saturday morning.
Their prediction has come true with snow seen filming around Shaftesbury and surrounding areas at around 10am on Saturday.
Videos shared on social media show snow showers around the area but it doesn't appear to be settling.
Commenting on why Shaftesbury and other areas of Dorset has seen snow today, Dorset Snow said: “Cold northerly wind with showers moving in from the north.
“Dew points and temperatures good enough for snow. Shaftesbury is also on higher ground then most areas which increases the risk of snow.”
While the scenes of snow falling may be striking, he only believed “less than a cm” of snow had fallen, but added “Shaftesbury may see a dusting before midday.”
