How Covid has been impacted education
South West Regional Director for the South West, James McNeillie, said: “The pandemic has, and is continuing to have a huge impact on education and care. So we must absolutely credit all those leaders and staff working in education and care who have continued to teach, support and protect children and young people in the most challenging circumstances.
"Our earlier experiences of lockdown reinforce just how important it is for schools and other settings to remain open, both for children’s learning and safety. Schools provide a line of sight for vulnerable children and young people and well-structured routines that are vital for their learning and development, especially those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND).”
What about SEND in BCP?
During the 2020/21 reporting year, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area received an area SEND inspection and a written statement of action was required. Overall, in the South West, seven areas required a written statement of action.
