THE vaccination programme would not be possible without the hard work and personal sacrifice of those on the frontline, says health chief.
As the vaccination programme gears up a notch as we head towards the end of the year, the director of nursing at Dorset HealthCare has thanked all of the frontline staff for their incredible contributions.
Dawn Dawson, director of nursing, therapies and quality at Dorset HealthCare said: “We are increasing the available slots for vaccinations every day with a massive effort from all partners across the Dorset health and care system.
“The numbers are increasing all the time as more vaccination sites and pop-up clinics are offered – please keep checking the NHS national booking system as these sites come online. We are working to offer jabs – either first, second or booster – as quickly as possible to everyone who is eligible and takes up the offer.

“Not everyone who is eligible will come forward in that time and we will continue to vaccinate into 2022 and are working on detailed plans for the ongoing vaccination programme.
“We’ve been humbled by the ongoing commitment and resilience of teams across health and care, and the wider teams in our partner organisations as well as all the volunteers who continue to give their valuable time.
“This challenging programme wouldn’t be possible without their hard work and, in many cases, personal sacrifice to help keep the people of Dorset safe - we’re incredibly grateful to everyone who’s playing their part.”
The public has been reminded that the pandemic is not over and have been urged to continue practicing personal responsibility throughout the Christmas and new year period. Ms Dawson said: “We’d like to remind local people that they can help slow the spread of the virus by continuing to wear masks, keep their distance and let in fresh air. Alongside the vaccination programme, these are the actions that will help us to get through the ongoing pandemic.”
