POLICE have stepped up patrols in a New Forest town after the body of a 23-year-old was discovered at a house on Sunday.
Officers were called to Whitsbury Road in Fordingbridge after the man was found dead by his family at around 8.10am and a major investigation was launched.
Police will carry out additional patrols in the Fordingbridge area over the next few days to reassure the local community after fears that tensions could be running high over the death.
Police have not yet named the man or how he died. It is not known when a post-mortem will be carried out.
A police spokesman said: "The death has caused some heightened emotions within the community as the man was well-known to local residents."
A 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident and are assisting police with their inquiries.
