A PILOT police operation which has been asking residents to shop those acting in an anti-social manner has been extended.
Operation Point involves people sending images and videos directly to Dorset Police.
It was initially due to take place in Poole town centre and Ashley Road, Parkstone, until the end of December.
However, after a successful introduction, it has continued into the winter months.
Police Sergeant Sophie Williams, of Poole Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We have continued to be committed to reducing anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Ashley Road in Parkstone and Poole town centre.
“Operation Point was set up to encourage members of the public to submit any CCTV or dashcam footage of anti-social behaviour to officers so that we can better understand the type of behaviour occurring.
“This work forms part of Operation Relentless, the Force’s drive to reduce anti-social behaviour.
"The operation aims to remind residents and visitors that Dorset Police takes a tough approach to ASBand send a very clear message to those involved that it simply will not be tolerated in the county."
Since the start of September, Dorset Police received 27 reports in Ashley Road through Operation Point, while in the town centre it received 187 reports in the same period.
Sergeant Williams said since the operation launched there had been an overall reduction in ASB in Ashley Road.
"There is not one simple solution to tackling ASB and we have been using a number of tactics to help reduce incidents. These include carrying out regular patrols in the area and developing multi-agency plans with our partners, which have a focus on resolving the issue," she said.
“We have been working hard with our partner agencies, including CSAS officers, to drive down the number of anti-social incidents.
“While we have not yet received any images or footage, we are continuing to ask businesses and members of the public to submit any images or footage they may have captured of ASB on home or business CCTV or dashcam to 101@dorset.PNN.police.uk.
“We hope that this operation will continue to deter people from acting anti-socially if individuals are aware that footage and images could be handed to the force.”
