REVELLERS will be venturing out for New Year’s Eve on Friday night.
It will be the first time in two years that pubs, clubs, bars and restaurants will be able to host celebrations without Covid restrictions.
For those getting out and about across Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch or even needing to get to work across the bank holiday weekend, here’s a round-up of what’s happening across our local bus and rail services.
New Year’s Eve
Morebus
A Saturday service will be in place on most routes with some extra morning journeys running on the 5, 8, 9, 13, 14, 16 and 17 services.
A Friday timetable will run on the X1, X2, X3, X6, X8, 23, 24, 38, 119, 125, 191, 193, Ringo and Cango.
Yellow Buses
A Saturday service will operate on routes 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 3, 3x, 4, 5, 5a, 6 & 12 with early finishes generally between 5pm and 6.30pm.
Meanwhile, a Monday to Friday service will operate on routes 4a, 6h, 18, 33, 36 and 737.
Night Buses will not operate on New Year’s Eve or Saturday, January 1.
South Western Railway
Trains will run to a revised Saturday timetable. South Western Railway will be scheduling some additional services from London Waterloo after midnight. People are advised to check before they travel as these services are subject to last minute alterations.
Cross Country
A shutdown of train operations will commence from 8pm. Last trains to destinations will be earlier than scheduled.
Saturday, January 1
Morebus
Sunday services will operate on routes 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 13, 14, 16, 17, 40, X3 & X8, with a special service on routes m1 & m2 as well as the Breezer 50. No other routes will run.
Yellow Buses
Special New Year’s Day Service on route 1, 1a, 1b, 2, 3, 4, 5, 5a & 6 – passengers are advised to download route timetables on the Yellow Buses website for further details.
South Western Railway
Trains will run to a typical Sunday timetable. Train services will be altered in the Southampton area, with some services replaced by buses.
Cross Country
Train services will start from 8am. Trains will not call at Winchester and Southampton Airport Parkway. Journey times will be extended by approximately 45 minutes.
Sunday, January 2
Morebus
A normal Sunday service will be in place.
Yellow Buses
A normal Sunday service will be in place.
South Western Railway
Trains will run to a typical Sunday timetable. Train services will be altered in the Southampton area, with some services replaced by buses.
Cross Country
A rail replacement road transport will operate between Bournemouth and Southampton Airport Parkway and also Southampton Central and Southampton Airport Parkway.
Monday, January 3
Morebus
A Sunday service will operate on all routes.
Yellow Buses
A bank holiday service will be in place with Sunday timetables. Passengers are advised to download route timetables on the Yellow Buses website.
Normal timetables will resume on Morebus and Yellow Buses on Tuesday, January 4.
South Western Railway
Trains will run to a typical Saturday timetable.
