A “PROLIFIC” burglar who undertook a “campaign” of raiding houses and stealing thousands of pounds worth of property, has been jailed.
Mark Neil Eaton, 51, of HMP Winchester, had nine months added to his current 68-month prison sentence after admitting five Bournemouth burglaries and one burglary in Surrey.
The defendant, who even stole a pair of Adidas Yeezy trainers before wearing them into KFC, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court for sentencing on Wednesday, December 22.
Prosecuting, Michael Williams said between May 25 and May 27, 2019, at Pine Tree Glen in Westbourne, Eaton made entry through a window.
He stole items including a 42’ TV, a sound system, jewellery and a watch.
Also at Pine Tree Glen on May 25, 2019, Eaton burgled a property while the occupants were in the garden.
It was here he stole the “expensive” trainers which he’d later be seen wearing in KFC.
Count three relates to a burglary at the same building where he stole loose change and whiskey. Footwear marks from the Yeezy trainers were left at the property.
On June 4, 2019, in Marlborough Road, Eaton forced entry through a ground floor window and searched the entire property.
He stole a MacBook, perfume, jewellery and aftershave. He also stole a credit card which was later used in a KFC store.
On June 6, 2019, Eaton entered into a block of new-build apartments behind residents and forced entry into a ninth floor flat. He stole an iPhone, jewellery, and a TV.
The final burglary relates to an incident in Surrey on June 7, 2019, where Eaton stole a Rolex watch worth £5,000 and another watch worth £3,500.
He was later arrested with a number of the items stolen from all counts found in his blue Mercedes car.
The court heard he had 21 previous convictions from 49 offences, including nine dwelling burglaries starting in 1997.
He is currently serving 68 months for burglaries in Croydon, for which he was sentenced in December 2019.
Mitigating, Paul Webb said Eaton had reached a turning point in his life and had taken up a carpentry course while in prison with the aim of becoming self-employed.
Judge Robert Pawson sentenced him the nine months for each burglary, to be served concurrently with each other. The nine-month total was added to his current sentence.
Judge Pawson said: “This was a campaign of burglaries, you have been a prolific dwelling burglar.
“Sentimental items were stolen. It was planned, you were equipped, and it was a campaign.
“Your record is appalling but I am glad to hear you have got yourself a trade.”
Dorset Police declined to provide the image of Eaton.
