POLICE are continuing to patrol a New Forest town following the sudden death of a young man at the weekend.
Twenty three-year-old Shaun Wells' body was discovered by his family at a house in Whitsbury Road in Fordingbridge, just after 8am on Sunday.
A police spokesperson said Mr Wells had been out socialising in the Fordingbridge area the night before he died and is known to have visited the Fordingbridge Club in Round Hill that evening.
Police investigating the circumstances surrounding Mr Wells' death are very keen to speak to anyone who was in the club on Saturday night who may have some information that will assist officers in their investigation.
A spokesperson said: "Shaun Wells was well-known and popular in the Fordingbridge area and his death has caused heightened tension in the community, resulting in public order incidents. Over the next few days additional reassurance patrols will be carried out by local officers."
The community patrols will be in place to calm any tensions following some incidents of criminal damage to property in Rockbourne on Sunday as well as a small fire which happened near to the Co-op in the High Street at 3.50pm on Sunday afternoon.
Police believe the public order incidents are related to Mr Wells' death and say they will be continuing to patrol the town until the heightened tensions subside.
Two men arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
A 25-year-old man from the Salisbury area and a 24-year-old man from Fordingbridge were both arrested on suspicion of supplying a controlled substance.
Anyone with any information which may assist police with their investigation should contact CID at Lyndhurst police station on 0845 045 45 45 and quote Operation Gomasio or call Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
