THE bowls club building at Redcotts Recreation Ground, Wimborne Minster is to be enlarged to allow indoor bowling.
The single storey extension to the rear of the building has been approved for the Wimborne Bowls Club by Dorset Council and will add 28 square metres of useable space to the existing 180 square metres.
The club say the extra space will be used to allow the use of two indoor short mat bowling carpets to offer around the year bowling and to allow more people to join the club.
Wimborne town council had supported the application.
Planning officers said they were content that the design and material are likely to be a good match to the existing building and will not look out of place. They have advised to club to check for roosting bats prior to work starting and to take appropriate measures should any be found.
