THE family of a young man who was found dead at a house in Fordingbridge at the weekend have paid tribute to him.
The body of 23-year-old Shaun Wells was discovered by his family at a house in Whitsbury Road early on Sunday morning.
His family issued a statement yesterday saying: "Shaun was born and grew up in Fordingbridge. When he left school he started work in the building trade as a ground worker. Shaun enjoyed socialising with his friends and playing pool. He was a keen football fan and supported Manchester United.
"He was close to his family and had a young son, who did not live with him but they saw each other regularly," they added.
"Shaun will be sadly missed by his family and numerous friends. We hope something can be gained by this tragic loss of life at such a young age and that lessons can be learned to prevent other needless deaths in the future.
"We, his family, would ask anyone who may have information which would help police with their investigation into Shaun's death to contact them.
"We would also like to thank the people of Fordingbridge for their support following our son's death, especially those who have already provided police with information."
Police revealed on Wednesday (January 23) that they had arrested a third man in connection with the death. A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a controlled substance but was released on police bail pending further enquiries.
A 24-year-old from Fordingbridge and a 25-year-old from Salisbury had already been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail, pending further enquiries.
Anyone with information which may assist police investigating the circumstances of Shaun Wells' death is asked to contact CID at Lyndhurst police station quoting Operation Gomacio, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
