AN Argos store in Bournemouth is set to close its doors as part of a nationwide process.
The standalone Argos branch in Ringwood Road Retail Park announced to shoppers via a notice on the shop front that it would close on Thursday, February 10.
An Argos spokesperson said: “Our Ringwood Argos store is closing soon and colleagues were offered opportunities to redeploy to alternative roles within Sainsbury’s. Customers can continue to shop with us at our nearby stores, including our Talbot Heath Argos within Sainsbury’s.”
In late 2020, it was announced that the 420 standalone UK Argos stores would close by March 2024, although owner Sainsbury's said it would open 150 Argos outlets within its supermarkets.
Ringwood Road Retail Park agent Edgerley Simpson Howe LLP have made the current Argos site available to let and say the 14,071 sq ft unit will be available from March 2022.
This follows a series of similar announcements in the Bournemouth area recently, which has seen the likes of Wilko and House of Fraser announce branch closures in a two-week period.
