A DEMOLITION crew have been working to dismantle The Sloop pub in Poole to make way for flats.
Three Cross Demolition were contracted to carry out the work in Commercial Road by developers AJC Homes ahead of the construction of 74 flats.
Demolition director Tony Revell told the Echo: “All the bricks come down methodically, they’re then picked out, stacked, cleaned, palleted and then to a salvage yard to be reclaimed and reused along with the roof tiles.
“Inside, a lot of the oak interior has been taken out and salvaged. We widely try to focus on salvaging and recycling most materials so there’s minimal waste.

“It’s not quite the crash bang wallop of the outside impression of demolition. It’s very much different these days and is a lot more methodical.”
The roof will soon be removed in sections before clearing the first and ground floors.
Tony, whose grandfather founded the company more than 50 years ago, estimated the demolition work would be complete and the site fit for construction in around three to four weeks.
