A MAN will have to pay more than £400 after boarding a train without a valid ticket.
Philip Bird, 61, of Whitby Road, Milford on Sea, was proved to have committed the offence by single justice procedure at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court.
On May 6, 2021, Bird boarded a train at Basingstoke Station for the purpose of travelling without having a valid ticket.
Magistrates fined the defendant £220 and ordered him to bay compensation of £25.70.
He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £34 and costs of £140, meaning he racked up a total court bill of £419.70.
