THE Chinese rang in the New Year in Bournemouth and the rest of the world on February 12, 2002.
Members of the local community celebrated the arrival of the Year of the Horse in traditional colourful style.
This year’s Chinese New Year is today and marks the dawning of the Year of the Tiger, according to the Chinese zodiac.

The year of the tiger symbolises strength, braveness and exorcising evils.
Many Chinese children wear hats or shoes emblazoned with the tiger for good luck.
