A MAN has been arrested in relation to a robbery in which a knife was held to a woman’s throat in Bournemouth town centre.
A 34-year-old man of no fixed abode has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery following two incidents in the early hours of the morning.
The first occurred in Fir Vale Road at around 4am on Wednesday, November 17, when two women, aged 18 and 19, were approached by a man who demanded a wallet from one of the women at knifepoint.
The victim said they did not have anything apart from their mobile phones.
The man reportedly continued to hold the knife to the woman’s throat and then left the scene with both of their mobile phones.
Police said the man then ran up St Peter’s Road and onto Bath Road where it is reported that he approached a man with a knife and demanded money.
The victim reportedly punched the man before he fell backwards. He sustained a slight injury to his hand and went to hospital for treatment. Nothing was stolen.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said: “Following enquiries by officers and a CCTV appeal, a 34-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery.
“He has been released under investigation as officers carry out further enquiries.”
