TWO residents at a care home in Poole with a combined age of 203 have just celebrated milestone birthdays.
George Kaye of The Lindsay Bupa Care Home turned 102 on January 30 with fellow resident Joan Turner celebrating her 101st birthday on January 8.
The home marked the occasion with a special birthday dinner of cake and champagne for the pair who were joined by their friends and carers.
George said: “Staying active and trying to remain as independent as possible has definitely helped me reach 102. I also owe credit to my wonderful wife; she has always looked after me, supporting me throughout our many years together.”
Joan said: “I am a firm believer that eating lots of chocolate and cruising have helped me stay young at heart, alongside having a great sense of humour. You should never take life too seriously.”
Tamzin Yaser, home manager at The Lindsay, said: “We’re honoured to be a part of and celebrate these incredible residents’ birthdays with them and their families. At The Lindsay, we believe in helping our residents live longer, healthier, happier lives and Joan and George are a true testament to that. They are an inspiration to us all.”
