THIS week, we are celebrating the loving and caring side of our pets, and the owners who have helped to give them a new lease of life.
Ahead of Valentine’s Day on Monday February 14, we are shining a light on five rescue dogs that help to make their owner’s house a home, a stray cat that doesn’t cease to entertain her owners and a tiny lovable Chihuahua.
Georgina Davis has certainly shown a lot of love over the past few years, taking in five rescue dogs and looking after them at her home in Canford Cliffs.
The quintet consists of (from left to right) Ben, a mixed breed, Willow the Lurcher cross, Husky cross Wade, Cleo the Collie cross and Rosie the Shih Tzu.
Bowie, the five-year-old Patterdale Terrier was taken in by Michelle Wilson as a rescue dog.
Michelle, who has owned Bowie for three and a half years, said: “He is never happier than when He is walking along Bournemouth beach from the pier right along to Canford Cliffs.”
Big Eric loves to eat and then have a siesta on top of the garden shed at his house in Poole.
His owner Lewy Cole said: “Being 21 years old, he's just so affectionate. I think I'd be lost without him now.”
Mischievousness wire-haired Fox Terrier Neville is a bit of a rascal.
According to his owner, loves doing anything he's not supposed to do, whether that’s stealing socks or trying his best to get a place at the dinner table.
Smudgie, the long-haired moggie, was a stray before Debbie and Dave Turner put a roof over her head and gave her a place to call home.
When not eating or sleeping, she loves to run around the garden in the hope of getting some treats afterwards.
Sully the 11-month-old Golden Retriever has been given endless joy to his Kathryn Woods and her family in Bournemouth.
As you would expect, Sully loves to play, chew, cuddle, splash in his water bath and play with the cats.
Jasper the long-haired Chihuahua continues to show his owner Maxine Turner endless affection with cuddles and for constantly making her laugh. You will either find him racing around playing fetch or fast asleep.
Bruce the Maine Coon was rescued from Cats Protection as a kitten. His owner Sophie Matthews says he is “loving and great with our two young children”.
Bruce and his sister Edie even have their own Instagram page - @two_tabbys.
Louise Dalgelish adopted Lotus, the Siamese cross, as a kitten from Gift of Life cat rescue, a charity based in the UK and Spain.
Found on the streets in Spain as a tiny, abandoned kitten, she was fostered until she was big and healthy enough to be rehomed to her loving owners in the UK.
Louise also has a long-haired black cat called Jeff, who apparently thinks he's a dog sometimes.
He chases around like he's a kitten still, forgetting that he's 10 years old.
