A POLICE sergeant is set to face a misconduct hearing over allegations he shared details of an interview given by murderer Wayne Couzens.
PS Simon Kempton is accused of posting a series of messages on a group chat after Couzens appeared in court charged with the kidnap and murder of Sarah Everard.
It is alleged that the Dorset Police officer, who was on secondment from the force to the Police Federation at the time, disclosed evidence that had been revealed during the hearing, which was subject to reporting restrictions.
A misconduct hearing is due to take place at Dorset Police headquarters in Winfrith on February 22, 2022. It is expected to last four days.
On the Police Federation website, PS Kempton is listed as the national treasurer.
Couzens, 49, a former police constable and firearms officer with the Metropolitan Police, pleaded guilty to the kidnap, rape and murder of 33-year-old Ms Everard. He was sentenced to a whole life order.
