A ROAD in Pokesdown has been closed after strong winds blew several roof tiles onto the road below.
Fire and police crews are stationed in Christchurch Road while attempts are made to stabilise the roof of a block of flats, after tiles reportedly flew off and onto the road and pavement.
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service spokesperson said: “A crew from Springbourne went there just before 2pm, [and] the aerial ladder platform from Westbourne has just arrived as we’re hoping we can use it to make the roof safe by getting people up to remove any further loose tiles.”
The spokesperson added they were unsure how long the road would remain closed for.
A Dorset Police spokesperson confirmed they were notified at 2.03pm by the fire service for assistance with the road closure and that the fire service are dealing with the incident.
