FOUNDATIONS have been laid for the brand-new multi-million-pound development at Ringwood School.
The new performance venue at Ringwood, named The Barn, is ready for construction to begin and will see a steel frame installed in the coming weeks.
Pictures show the construction site is near the old school entrance which was formerly used for staff and visitor parking.
After more than four years of planning, The Barn will be a 650-seater venue, providing the 1,600-pupil school with extra space for a range of activities including exams and drama.
Facilities will include a cinema-grade projection system and a theatrical sound system. The Barn will also boast a technical control room that can be used to teach BTEC production and performing arts.
Sam Coombes, operations manager for Ringwood School, previously said: “Our school community is the heartbeat of the town, and our students are as excited about bringing this space to Ringwood as we are.
“I really look forward to working with them on the many planned fundraising events over the coming months and to the launch of the Barn.”
The Barn is projected to be complete by summer of this year.
