A MAN is in a potentially life-threatening condition after sustaining a serious head injury during an assault at a Bournemouth nightclub.

The incident which took place at 1.32am on Sunday February 27 involved an altercation between two men in Vinyl club in Fir Vale Road.

It is alleged a 20-year-old man from Sunbury on Thames was assaulted and fell to the floor. He sustained a serious head injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition is described as potentially life-threatening.

A 23-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward following the reported assault.

Forensics officers could be seen at the club on Sunday morning.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This incident took place near to the back of the nightclub and I know there were many people inside the venue who may have seen what happened and could assist our investigation. I would urge anyone who did witness the incident to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also ask that anyone who may have captured all or part of the incident on a mobile phone to please get in touch.”
