AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a pedestrian who died in hospital after a crash in Poole.
Christopher Anthony Lynch, 32, died at Southampton General Hospital on February 16 following the collision at the junction of Station Road and Church Road in Ashley Cross on February 13.
Assistant coroner for Dorset Richard Middleton opened an inquest into Mr Lynch's death on March 8 at Bournemouth Town Hall.
Coroner's officer Philippa Morgan said Mr Lynch, who lived in Warsash, Southampton, suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision.
The principal quality engineer was taken to hospital but died three days later from the injuries he sustained.
Ms Morgan said police enquiries are ongoing.
Following a forensic post-mortem, a provisional cause of death was provided as delayed affects of head injury.
Mr Middleton adjourned the inquest, with a pre-inquest review scheduled to take place on June 10.
As reported, a 41-year-old Poole man was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
A 79-year-old man from Poole is also assisting officers with enquiries and attended for a voluntary police interview.
Dorset Police said enquiries indicate the collision involved a silver Land Rover Freelander and a grey Nissan Pulsar.
Mr Lynch's family paid tribute to him in a statement released by Dorset Police.
They said: "Chris’ tragic death has left an irreparable hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted, loving and loyal father, husband, son, brother and friend.
“He had a passion for the outdoors and lived a life full of adventure. Chris never put less than 100% into every aspect of his life, his family, friends, hobbies and career.
“He was a hero to his young children Kitty and Arthur and soulmate to his wife Ellie. We miss him terribly."
