EXPENSIVE car parking fees at Upton Country Park and forcing drivers to park on nearby streets – according to one local resident.
Jamie Dunn told last month's BCP council meeting that many residents near the park frequently witnessed park users choosing not to pay for parking in the two public car parks, instead using residential roads nearby, which he said “impacted on access for emergency vehicles.”
During the public session of the meeting he told councillors: “Lowering charges to respectable amounts and improving advertising of the yearly £40 charge could see more vehicles using the main car park.
“Recent summers see the car parks a quarter of half full, which I have evidence of. The main reason is high charges and its understandable why many people choose to park in residential roads. I kindly request these charges are reviewed,” he said.
No one from the council responded to Mr Dunn, who made the comments as a statement to the meeting.
The Daily Echo has previously reported on concerns raised by Mr Dunn in relation to the impact of cars parking in residential roads around the country park.
