RESIDENTS moved by the plight of Ukraine hope to raise £20,000 at the weekend for the humanitarian effort.
A Walk for Ukraine is taking place on Sunday from Bournemouth Pier to Sandbanks.
The event been organised by businessman Rob Wylie and his wife Giorgia and participants, encouraged to wear something of blue and yellow, will be joined by Harry Redknapp.
Rob of Poole said: "We were just watching the news like everyone else and felt we just had to do something, even if it is a tiny contribution. The scenes we have all been witnessing on our televisions have been heartbreaking.
"My wife and I have pledged to match whatever we raise up to a maximum of £10,000 so we are aiming for a total of £20,000 in total.
"If people can't get along on the day, I hope they will consider donating to the Just Giving Page.
The walk leaves Bournemouth Pier at 10am and finishes at Shore Road, Sandbanks.
All welcome to join and show support for the people of Ukraine.
