A BOURNEMOUTH supermarket is expected to challenge a licence review after claims that it sold smuggled alcohol and tobacco.
A review of the premises licence for the Europa Mini Supermarket, 16 St Michael’s Road, Bournemouth, has been applied for by Dorset Police following an intelligence led operation with officers from HM Revenue and Customs and Trading Standards.
Their investigation was carried out following information that smuggled alcohol and/or tobacco were being offered for sale on the premises.
The licence review, expected to take place in a closed door licensing panel meeting next week, (Wed 16), relates to concerns that the premises are not upholding the prevention of crime and disorder licensing objectives.
Report papers for the committee have not been made available to the press or public by Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council and the agenda papers suggest that the entire hearing will be held in private.
