PEOPLE who want to host street parties for the Platinum Jubilee have six weeks to get their applications in.

Residents of Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are invited to host street parties and join in the Big Lunch on Sunday 5 June, to celebrate seventy years of service for Her Majesty The Queen.

BCP Council have advised anyone planning to host a party should apply before the deadline on April 21.

The street parties will be part of an extended bank holiday weekend, from Thursday June 2 to Sunday June 5, spent celebrating the Platinum Jubilee.

The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, having acceded to the throne on February 6 1952.

It is hoped the celebrations will break the record for Britain’s biggest ever national party.

BCP Council said on its website the celebrations will “provide an opportunity for communities and people across the country, the Commonwealth and around the world to come together to celebrate the historic milestone.”

Hosts should fill out an application form, accessible via the BCP council website, to request road closure for their party.

The application to close your road will be free of charge, but any submitted after the deadline will not be accepted.

Anyone wishing to host a more public event or one that involves major road closures should contact events@bcpcouncil.gov.uk.
