RECEIVING just shy of £2million in parking fines last year alone, BCP Council’s worst affected roads bought in more than £13,000 each.
With one of the worst years for parking on record, the local authority issued a whopping 800 tickets in one weekend alone last summer - with the authorities implementing regular road closures in a bid to alleviate traffic gridlock.

In figures obtained by the Daily Echo through the Freedom of Information Act, the 20 most lucrative roads amassed a whopping £2,223,635.36 in fines.
The figures show fines were issued at 1,437 locations across the conurbations including public car parks and roads between January 1, 2021 and January 1, 2022.
BCP Council received £60,328 from fines amassed in Coach House Place, adjoining Lansdowne Road and the train station.

This was nearly £40,000 more than the next location, Saxon Square Car Park, which bought in £21,961.
Old Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, raised £21,766 in penalty charges notices.

This was followed by two popular Christchurch locations, Avon Run Road (£20,479) and Wick Lane Car Park (20,253.58).
The council received £19,403 from fines made in Sandbanks Car Park leading on to the peninsula last year.
Highcliffe Top Car Park (£18,717), Bargates (by-pass) Car Park (£18,572) and Christchurch Road, Bournemouth, (£18,263) make up the 10 highest grossing locations for parking fines.
This is closely followed by St Mary’s Road (£17,699), Mudeford Quay Car Park (£16,088), St Michael’s Road (£15,992) and The Quay (£15,298).
Ashley Road (£14,959.04), Bath Road South Car Park (£14,694.53), The Triangle (£13,805), Albert Road (£13,787), Avenue Road (£13,313) and West Overcliff Drive (£13,202.53) complete the 20 worst affected areas for illegal parking.
