A COLLABORATION between a cinema, festival, and film institute will donate 100 per cent of proceeds from a box office preview event to the people of Ukraine.
The Mowlem Theatre & Cinema in Swanage is working alongside the Purbeck Film Festival as part of the South West BFI regional fundraising efforts by holding a preview of the award-winning movie Olga.
On Sunday March 20, the cinema will show a preview of Olga with all box office proceeds going to the International Red Cross and Unicef for their efforts to help Ukrainians impacted by the ongoing Russian invasion.
The film is about a 15-year-old Ukrainian gymnast exiled in Switzerland, working to secure a place at the country’s national sports centre.
Mowlem trustees and staff will be volunteering their time on the day to help raise as much as possible, including collection buckets on site.
Andrea Etherington, Purbeck Film Festival chair and Mowlem trustee, said: “We are really thankful to both the BFI and 606 Distribution for helping to make this preview event a reality. Many people in Swanage and the wider area will be wondering what they can do to play their part supporting the people of Ukraine during this terrible time, and we hope they’ll join us on Sunday for this remarkable film while raising money for both Unicef and the International Red Cross.”
